Really experimental piece as far as shading and colors.
I have a lot to say about this.www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hSAiL…
This song explains Ace perfectly. If you didn't know, my tall cat bean has autism. I chose to do this because i really want to raise awareness for people with this disorder. The people i've met with autism have been REALLY smart and nice, they just really have trouble talking to people.
Ace has an intense interest in the ocean and the creatures in it. He doesn't really know why, all he knows is that it is beautiful and that it listens. He wants to be normal and knows he's not. He tells the ocean about all his problems, big and small. It's his best friend probably, poor baby.
His brother, Aiko, gives him a lot of support and encouragement. He tries his best to get him to make more friends, but they don't listen like the ocean. They always treat him differently than everyone else, so he's pretty much alone besides Fin and Aiko. He really wants to have some sort of role to play to fit in with everyone else, but nobody on Fantastic is willing to trust an autistic with anything.
While Fin is on the island, he is Ace's light. Somebody who seems to take as much interest in the ocean as he does. Granted Fin was trying to get home, but Ace still thought he was pretty cool.
Even once Fin gets home, he tries to find Fantastic island to get back to his friends, but it's proving to be harder than expected. Ace is alone again, but is now determined to find a role and make more friends.
i almost feel like i don't see enough characters with disorders like autism. I can understand why as it limits creative character development. I see plenty of characters with depression and DID (MPD) which can be almost as limiting as autism. We should have more with autism, Asperger syndrom, etc.
If you're as concerned about ASD as i am, i highly suggest donating. There are a ton of good organizations to donate to.
